EPPF makes its presence felt in the Washington DC Metro Area
Ethiopian Review
September 4, 2006
The Ethiopian People's Patriotic Front (EPPF) makes its presence felt in the Washington DC Metro Area for the first time yesterday
afternoon by organizing a successful public meeting. The meeting at the Hilton Hotel in Alexandria's Mark Center was attended by
over 200 Ethiopians. Much more people could have come to the meeting had there been a more organized and effective PR work.
But it was a good start, and the organizers, as well as those who came to the meeting seem to be satisfied.EPPF's chairman of the
International Leadership Committee, Ato Zewdalem Kebede, was the keynote speaker. He gave a moving speech about EPPF's
objectives, drawing several rounds of applause. He also talked about the Alliance for Freedom and Democracy (AFD). He said, we
have AFD on one hand to sue for peace, and EPPF one the other to pursue the military option. The next speaker was Col. Getnet
Yimer, chairman of the EPPF North America Chapter. Col. Getnet pointed out the many obstacles facing EPPF in mobilizing support
in North America. Some of the obstacles, according to Col. Getnet, include the propaganda by Meles regime agents to scare off
potential supporters saying that supporting EPPF would result in breaking the U.S. law. Col. Getnet said that the American people,
who detest dictatorship and fascism, would not object to a people's struggle for their freedom. The last speaker was Ato Demis
Belete of Negat Radio. Demis came to the meeting wearing a military combat fatigue that is adorned with the Ethiopian flag on the left
and right shoulders. It was given to him by the freedom fighters.

Ethiopian rebels rebuff government claims of rout
Reuters, NAIROBI
29 Jun 2006 09:23:56 GM
A small Ethiopian rebel movement has denied a government claim to have killed or captured more than 200 of its fighters, saying
instead that it had routed security forces during fighting in the remote north.
The little-known Ethiopian People's Patriotic Front (EPPF) -- which Addis Ababa accuses of being backed by Eritrea -- said on its
Web site this week that Prime Minister Meles Zenawi's government was trying to cover up its own battle losses.
"The Meles regime has resorted to a propaganda of passing on its own defeat as an EPPF one," the group said.
Ethiopia's defence ministry said on Tuesday the army had in recent weeks killed 111 rebels and held another 107 who crossed over
from neighbouring Eritrea earlier this month.
Various armed insurgency groups operate in Ethiopia, the traditional power in the Horn of Africa region, accusing Meles of dictatorial
leadership and oppression of his people.
"EPPF refutes the report," the group said on its Web site. "EPPF army inflicted heavy damages by killing hundreds of ... soldiers and
capturing numerous light and heavy weapons.
It accused Ethiopian soldiers of "killing, imprisoning and torturing civilians" as well as "indiscriminately attacking civilians using attack
helicopters."
There has been no independent confirmation from the region of casualties on either side, and propaganda claims are common.
Ethiopia's information ministry repeated its accusation on Thursday that its neighbour Eritrea was behind the rebels.#
"The heavy casualties suffered by the rebels is a defeat of the Eritrean government which trains, arms and deploys in Ethiopian
territory to destabilise the country," a spokesman said.
Eritrea has denied that. It says Ethiopia wants to distract attention from alleged incursions into Somalia, where Addis Ababa is
concerned over the rise of Islamists.

Patriotic Front commanders refute the Meles regime claims
Ethiopian Review
June 28, 2006
The TPLF-controlled media reported this week that government forces killed 111 insurgents in northern Ethiopia. Ethiopian Review
was able to confirm that heavy fighting is underway in Gonder and Gojjam between Ethiopian People's Patriotic Forces (EPPF) and
the Meles Woyanne army. There were casualties on both sides, but according to EPPF commanders in the field, the Woyanne forces
sustained heavy damages. EPPF freedom fighters captured numerous light and heavy weapons, in addition to killing hundreds of
Woyanne troops.
In retaliation, Agazi forces (Meles Zenawi's private army) supported by armored vehicles and helicopters are going into villages and
attacking civilians. These fascistic acts are pushing more people to rebel against the regime. Large areas of Gonder, Gojjam, Wollo,
and western Ethiopia are currently out of the control of the Meles regime.
Hundreds of Ethiopians from Addis Ababa, Dire Dawa, and other cities and towns continue to flock to the EPPF every day to fight for
their freedom against the fascist regime of Meles Zenawi. The major problem EPPF facing right now, according to its leaders, is
providing the necessary clothing and equipment to the newly arrived fighters because of lack of resources.

Army moving north.
Volkskrantblog
13 February 2006
Meles Zenawie is moving his Army to Gonder and Wolega. Saturday night, street light were off while army is directed to the North and
west if Ethiopia. The same thing is taking place in Debre Zeit., lights off, trucks moving out of Town. This indicates Meles has not
sufficient army in The North and west to fight the Arm resistance. Meles had used his vicious soldier to crack down students uprising
in Addis He is getting nerves about the amount of Soldier that are deserting and joining the Arm resistance. The roads to Metema
and Humera are closed as the resistance advances to the centre of Gonder.
Reports from Addis Abeba say, Ethiopians travelling to Ethiopia are being arrested and interrogated. Schools are still closed. There
are no schoolchildren in Uniforms to be seen in the streets
Blair’s statement after the meeting with Meles is qualified positive for the people of Ethiopia. There is no change in the friendship
between Meles and Blair. Britain is not worried about the murdered children of Ethiopia, the thousands jailed in concentration camps.
It is worried about its interests and influence in the Horn of Africa. Ethiopia is controlled by the CIA, MI5 and Mossad.. Meles is seen
as friend fighting Terrorism in The Horn of Africa, by Bush and Blair. American soldiers are stationed in the Ogaden. The Anti
terrorism command centre is stationed in Djibouti. Kenya is owned by Britain. Sudan is now an ally of Bush, since they discovered oil
in Darfur... Islam could bring Egypt and Sudan together. The west will always try to avoid this. America is controlling the whole North-
Africa, from Maroco till Egypt. Ethiopia is important for the west, and they always want to control Ethiopia. Ethiopia is the Christian
nation in the middle of an Islamic part of the world. This is seen by the west as balance for their strategic support of a country. Oil
and Natural Gas has been discovered in Ethiopia. Ethiopia has other natural resources, still needs to be explored. The west has
noticed China signing all kinds of treaties with Meles. This give Meles something to trade with the west, support him unconditionally or
he will ask China to help him. China is kind to support him with out asking about his tyrannical regime Ethiopians see that they can
remove Meles from power, but all the Ethiopian’s agony can be prolonged by the west or China.

Unidentified force headed from Armacho to Gondar
Ethioforum.org
10 February 2006
Mele Zenawi has called his Cabinet (TPLF politburo) for an emergency meeting today after part of Gondar is reportedly fall under
unknown military forces, EMF reporter said from Addis Ababa. According to the report, thousands of government soldiers including
army officers have been defected to join the guerrilla rebel forces, which took arms against the repression by the Ethiopian tyrant.
An unidentified force headed from Armacho to Gondar city of Fasiledes. The army force, aided by the local police and the general
public, attacked the Federal police in the area, sources said.
The raid operation began today at around 12.00 pm local time. The army has surrounded Gonder from outside and inside layer,
according to the source. The Ethiopian Patriotic Forces, anty-TPLF fighters in Humera and Metema claimed the operation but other
report indicated that the movement is largely carried out by the army of the Amhara National Democratic Movement (ANDM), one of
the affiliate of the ruling EPRDF.
Similarly, civil unrest is reported in Gojjam, Wolega, Ambo, Dessie, Harar and Arsi as government security agents try to quell
peaceful protesters by using lethal forces. The regime opted for use of force to suppress the people's voice instead of resolving the
problem through means of dialog. By doing so, defiant Meles is leading the Nation to unprecedented chaos.
Addis Ababa is very tense. Meles’ special forces armed with heavy machine guns patrolled Addis Ababa again especially at Bole
international airport and 4-killo (palace) areas.
College and high school students in Addis Ababa, Bahir Dar, Gojjam, Dessie, Jima, Ambo, Gimbi, Nekmt, Harar, Arsi and a number of
other towns have boycotted schools demanding for the release of all political prisoners. Student's peaceful demonstration has been
strongly repressed by an armed assault of the regime.
The military operation is carried out amid Meles’ arrogant speech in the parliamentary session. During his report to Parliament last
week, Meles Zenawi rejected international calls for the release of the jailed elected leaders.
Meles Zenawi was discussing with his TPLF politburo members today about the way out of these out-of-control crisis.

Rebels claim military victories over government forces in north.
BBC Monitoring Service -
United Kingdom; Nov 13, 2001
Text of report by Ethiopian newspaper Wonchif on 13 November 2001
The Ethiopian People's Patriotic Front [EPPF] has said its forces scored victory when they attacked government forces in mid
October. In a recent statement, the front said its forces put 40 weyane [Ethiopian] soldiers out of action and destroyed four vehicles
when they carried out a tactical ambush on 9 Tikimt 1994 [Ethiopian calendar, 19 October 2001]. Similarly, the EPPF said its forces
ambushed government forces heading towards Wolkayit [northern Ethiopia] on 11 Tikimt 1994 [21 October 2001] and killed four
soldiers, wounded another four and forced the rest to flee. Noting that it had recently intensified its military operations, the EPPF said
its forces ambushed and seized four government vehicles on 20 Tikimt 1994 [30 October 2001] at a place known as Shebeko
[phonetic] along the Himora-Gonder highway [northern Ethiopia] before burning them. It said its forces successfully accomplished
their mission by killing 19, wounding seven and capturing six of the soldiers who were in the vehicles. Noting that the six captured
soldiers were freed after they admitted that they were forcefully conscripted into the weyane army, the military communique said the
valiant EPPF forces carried out the operations in accordance with the front's promise to score resounding victories against the
weyane in 1994 [2001/2002].
